Candle Safety: A Message for Our Community 🕯️
Dear neighbours,
As the nights draw in and many of us enjoy the warm glow of candles, it’s important to remember that they can pose a serious fire hazard if not used carefully. Please take a moment to read these essential safety tips and share them with your family.
Before Lighting
Always trim the wick to ¼ inch before lighting.
Dispose of wick trimmings and matches properly to keep debris out of the wax pool.
Avoid placing candles in draughts.
Set candles on a heat‑resistant surface.
While Lit
Burn candles only within sight. Never leave them unattended.
Extinguish candles before leaving the room.
Do not burn for longer than four hours at a time.
Keep candles away from anything that could catch fire.
Ensure they are out of reach of children and pets, who may accidentally tip them over.
